Resource Based Economy

What's a Resource Based Economy?

A Resource-Based Economy (RBE), developed by futurist Jacque Fresco, is a proposed socioeconomic system where all goods and services are available without money, credits, or debt. It replaces political, financial, and market-driven decision-making with scientific resource management and automation to provide abundance, sustainability, and high living standards for everyone.

The Core Economic Mechanism

  • Abundance & Sustainability: The system assumes Earth has plentiful resources, which are declared the "common heritage of all Earth's inhabitants".

  • No Money or Barter: Goods and services are available to all without a price tag, replacing the monetary-based, scarcity-oriented environment.

  • Scientific Management: Decisions are based on scientific analysis, sustainability, and technical feasibility rather than politics or profit.

  • Automation: Advanced technology and automated systems are used for production and distribution, eliminating the need for mundane work and increasing efficiency.

  • Purpose: The main aim is to foster a sustainable, prosperous society that provides a high standard of living, eliminates waste, and addresses human needs directly.

Roadmap for Realization

The project follows a multi-phase plan to transition from current society to this new vision:

Phase 1: Maintenance of the 21-acre research center in Venus, Florida, to showcase designs and proposals.

Phase 2: Production of documentaries (like Paradise or Oblivion) and multimedia to educate the public.

Phase 3: Development of a Center for Resource Management to act as a think tank and a stepping stone to building new cities.

Phase 4: Construction of an Experimental Research City to test and validate the RBE hypothesis in a real-world setting.
